Create a Colorful Easter Table
Spring is my favorite season. The dull gray of the west Texas winter landscape gives way to green shoots of grass and wildflowers. The days brighten and the temperatures warm. Spring also plays host to Easter. A moment to celebrate resurrection and the bright hope of tomorrow, Easter is a meaningful time for faith and family.
Easter gives us the opportunity for friends and family to gather around the table to enjoy each other’s company. A beautifully collected table paired with dishes made from treasured heirloom recipes makes for a joyful meal. If you’d like to make your table look extra special this Easter, here are some ideas to bring even more joy to your gathering.
Start Scheming
If you feel overwhelmed at the very thought of decorating your Easter table, start by settling on the color scheme you’d like to use. Once you’ve done this, all the details will fall into place more easily.
Firm Foundation
With the color scheme in place, I found a tablecloth with the same touches of pink found in the porcelain plates. This tablecloth adds a texture with its playful green and pink block print. The tablecloth is made from cotton, is budget friendly and launders well.
Adding another layer to the table, spring green placemats and napkins with beautiful embroidered details were included. These pick up the green from the block print tablecloth.
Pile on the Color
Spring is a season full of happy, vibrant color. Fresh flowers are a natural choice when incorporating those spring hues into table décor. Pink and orange roses, blue and purple hydrangea, lilies (what Easter table would be complete without them?), with touches of greenery complete this Easter palette.
Arranging flowers can be daunting. But your floral arrangement doesn’t have to be over-the-top to be beautiful. I like to use vessels that make it simple and easy. Silver plated mint julep cups are a favorite of mine. Only about four inches tall, mint julep cups can be found online or (if you’re lucky) at an antique store. Pop a grouping of four or five roses in each cup, add a touch of greenery, and there you have it! Place four or five of these arrangements down the table for a simple yet effective look.
Another way to add color to the table is glassware. This stemware came in the perfect color palette. Each glass picks up the color of the flowers, tablecloth and plates. The delicate glassware adds a special glint to the table.
Touch of Whimsy
What would the Easter season be without a bunny or two? This wicker bunny adds a whimsical touch to the center of the table. Made from natural materials, it makes a statement without overpowering the rest of the décor. Adding a blue silk “bowtie” gives the bunny an extra touch of personality.
The coming of spring is marked by warmth, longer days and new life. Celebrating Easter is a reflection of the season. As we gather with our loved ones, let’s remember the joy of Easter and our hope in the days ahead. Happy Easter everyone!
