Appetizingly Abilene: Abi-Haus

Abi-Haus, a new American restaurant nestled in downtown Abilene, is bursting with excitement and delicious food.  Self-described as good, simple, honest food, Abi-Haus is drawing crowds daily for lunch, dinner and all snacks in between.  Owners and friends Ryan Feerer, a graphic design instructor at ACU, and Jimbo Jackson, an Air Force pilot, wanted to create a place with cool vibes and good food. With the help of Executive Chef, Kyle Clemmer and Bar Manager/Mixologist,Drew Garison, they succeeded.

I visited Abi-Haus a couple of times before deciding to officially share my thoughts in the first appearance of “Appetizingly Abilene.”  On my first visit, I met a friend for lunch and ordered a Funky Grilled Cheese and a diet Coke.  On my second visit, I ordered Korean Fish Tacos and a French 75 (yum–a definite MUST). For dinner I tried beef tenderloin and frites (super delicious–our waitress advised us to order it right away because it takes 45 minutes–WORTH IT).  Since we were celebrating a birthday, it seemed only fitting that we have dessert–chocolate cake.  It was delicious!  Abi-House desserts are baked daily by Sabrina Davis at Sweets de Jour on South Leggett–double yum!

This quaint little bistro, with its unique murals designed by Jeff Rogers and Dana Tanamachi, is a welcomed addition to downtown and to Abilene.  Give it a try, and if the wait is long, grab a cocktail and order a Cheap and Cheesy to-go; you can’t go wrong.  Welcome Abi-Haus to Abilene Scene!
