The Gracious Gatherings article in this issue of Scene was inspiring for me. I always love the idea of fall décor but I can never get my ish together in time to make it happen. But this year will be different! I’ve been on the lookout for more fall décor inspiration and here is what I’ve found.
I love pumpkins, but I really don’t love pumpkin rot. It’s very hard to find a classy solution to this problem! There are so many real pumpkin alternatives out there but so many of them look a little bit cheesy by trying to look real OR they are flat out way too expensive. So. My plans include these DIY Plush Pumpkins! I plan on checking out that new Jo-Ann’s store for supplies.
Step 1 – Cut a few circles of fabric.
Step 2 – Sew and stuff.
Step 3 – Glue on the stems.
This was surprisingly easy!! I was nervous because the instructional blog post seemed very vague. But as I got started, I realized the instructions were lacking detail because the project is surprisingly straightforward. Here are my finished pumpkins! Quick and easy. I finished in an evening.
Color schemes? The classic fall colors are beautiful but clash with my regular décor. My solution? These gorgeous monochromatic fall décors. I would’ve preferred white velvet, but on a short notice I thought the grey was a nice compromise.
From my *quick* browse through Pinterest to find the best neutral fall decorations I noted several unique and fun accessories to add to a neutral pumpkin collection:
Gold Leaf Accents:
White Hydrangeas:
Bleached Antlers:
Eucalyptus leaves: (In my opinion these look great with anything)
Thumb tacks:
Dried cotton bolls:
Some or all of these may soon be visible in my house. Be prepared.
