These #EventsToBeScene are what’s on my calendar for the month of April.  Bikini season is around the corner, but I’m too busy attending these events to care!

7:30 p.m. Friday

2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday

ACU Opera: Hidden Jewel in the Recital Hall.

Abilene Christian University Music Department

I’ve never been to the opera! I’m excited to try it out.  It sounds so classy and extravagant.

April 14, 5 – 8 p.m.

ArtWalk: Cosmic Cosplay

The Center for Contemporary Arts presents this monthly, family-friendly event downtown. This month’s “Cosplay” is short for “COStumed RolePLAY,” a form of performance art that originated in Japan and has swept the world.  Come walk the streets of downtown Abilene as your favorite super hero, comic book character, movie character or video game person.  If you don’t want to dress up, come as yourself to see all the interesting getups!

Of all the Artwalks, this one could definitely be the most colorful and creative.  Let’s see what creative Cosplay chops you have, Abilene!

If you haven’t made it to Don Luis (read more here) yet, you are missing a huge opportunity to fall in love with Cuban cuisine.  Not to mention $2 margaritas on Tuesdays.

April 29-30

Key City Blues Festival featuring local and area rhythm and blues artists as well as headliners that include renowned blues artists. Benefiting United Way of Abilene.

The Key City Blues festival is a local favorite.  It’s certainly worth including it in your April plans.

In addition to these events that are in my calendar, the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council has a much more extensive community event list on their website.

Right now, we are planning our summer out to the T.  We like to make our summer fun as efficient as possible. What plans are you making for the summer?  If you have kids, they might be interested in some local summer camps! Take a look at our annual calendar summary.
