“The best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear!”
If you could hear my inner monologue, the Christmas Carols are already going strong. Last Monday I put up the Christmas tree I keep on my desk at work.
Do you know what else I did last Monday? I went to see Elf the Musical at the Civic Center.
No regrets.
After a year of blogging #EventsToBeScene and eight and a half years of living in Abilene, this was only my second Broadway in Abilene show! I can’t believe I haven’t been to more of these.
I arrived early and was surprised to find that there was a whole set up. Live music was being played. Monks was there, serving lattes and desserts. You could even freshen up with a little beer or wine before the show started!
As you can see in the photo above, I helped myself to a little Candy Cane Mocha to get into the holiday spirit.
Sometimes, the world just needs a little musical theater, and last Monday was definitely one of those times. The good news is: Elf was only the first show of the 2016-2017 Celebrity Attractions Broadway Season! There are still several great shows that you should come and see when life gets too heavy for you.
On my list? Cinderella. Forever. My mother was Cinderella in a production of the Rogers & Hammerstein classic when she was in college. I remember watching the home video and thinking she was a movie star. I can’t wait to see this live professional production.
Also, I’m very intrigued by the Cirque Eloize Saloon. Which seems to be western themed circus/musical. I’m into it.
Whatever you do, don’t be a cotton-headed-ninny-muggins and forget to show up early! You will want to take advantage of the refreshments. Find tickets and show details at celebrityattractions.com.
