People You Know: David Carr

July 4, 2016 Leave a Comment

IMG_0450When the people of Abilene think of Target, many think of the affable David Carr. All smiles, Carr arrives at work every day ready to carry out customers’ purchases, return shopping carts, and be generally helpful in whatever way he can.

Background: Carr was born at Dyess Air Force Base and lived in many places, including Hawaii and Australia, before returning to Abilene at age 11.  He was a 1985 graduate of Hawley High School.

Previous Career: Carr worked at Goodwill Industries in high school before working at Target.

Current Career: “I love the people I work with, and the bosses I work for. The customers are friendly, and they always come in with a smile,” Carr said of his job at Target.  Carr also says he keeps a special eye out for the older customers that come in to the store. “I always try to help them out with the things they buy and take it to the car for them, especially the heavy things.”

Family: Carr has a father, Eddy Carr of Abilene, and a brother and sister who live out of state.

Customer Kudos Respectful, helpful, polite, and speedy are all words used to describe Carr. After the interview with Abilene Scene, Carr greeted all the customers with a genuinely friendly hello, as he made his way to the door.  One customer in particular saw Carr, gave him a big hug, and said, “We appreciate you; thank you, David!” Scenes like this one are not uncommon for Carr. “I appreciate my customers, too,” he says, with a smile.
