You won’t find stale bar mix, soggy nachos or anything smothered in layers of cigarette smoke at Abilene’s newest downtown pub. Instead, you can expect a great after-work meet up location that will not only wet your whistle but also satisfy your appetite for good food. The menu items may look like standard fare, but this pub has raised the bar. None of it is any kind of ordinary – juicy hamburgers with toppings like fried pickles; club sandwiches with layers of meats, cheeses and sauces, both on house-made buns and served with hand-cut fries or house-made chips. The delicious house sauces – bloody mary and garlic aioli are my favorites – deserve their own mention as well. I must admit, I don’t usually order a burger and fries. Until now, there was only one other ranch where I felt the need to forego my on-going diet by ordering it.
