Carve out some time for Halloween Fun!
The weather begins to turn turns cooler (hopefully) and the days begin growing shorter, it can mean only one thing…  Halloween!  Pumpkins start popping up, candy corn is on the shelves at the store and children everywhere are frantically trying to figure out a Halloween costume!  Whether you choose to trick or treat, take broom flying lessons or just have a ghoul old fashioned fun, in Abilene, you are sure to have a “BOOtiful” time!

Historic Swenson House

The charming Swenson house is a “normal” house for eleven months, but during the month of October, it falls under the spell of the spirits who roam freely on All Hallows Eve.  Its traditional décor takes on a rather creepy look as the Halloween mood settles in – you never know what will be staring back at you around the next corner.  If you dare, ride the Abilene Trolley as it twists and turns far away into the blackest night awakening those who have slept for eons in the silence of the earth. You will be welcomed to The Swenson House by Ghosts and Ghoulies, Long-Legged Beasties and Things That Go Bump In The Night.

Walk among the graves while breathing in the ghostly air found in The Garden of Good and Evil, and if you are brave enough, visit the Gypsy who speaks of charms and curses. Climb the stairs creaking with spirits unchained and walk from room to room witnessing horrors in the dark.  Rumors are also being whispered by the wind that The Phantom of the Lake will be swirling around the corners of this lovely old home on October nights. If these scenes sound too scary for the younger children, there will be a less formidable playground with a gypsy who gives encouraging words and delicious refreshments can be purchased.
