When it comes to how I spend my time, my eyes are always bigger than my metaphorical stomach. I always have intentions to see and do way more than I actually end up having time for, but that doesn’t stop me from making long lists of things that I’d like to do. Here is my list for February community events. There are so many great opportunities!
Feb. 11, 5 – 8 p.m.
ArtWalk: Grin and Bear It
A monthly, themed arts festival in downtown Abilene presented by the Center for Contemporary Arts, this month celebrating visual art, music, literature, and performance about bears. For details visit center-arts.com.

Artwalk is always hard for me because of my dance responsibilities but I always have the best intentions to go. I think this time around I can make it to the Grace After Dark!

I don’t have time to craft or be creative on my own and I’ve always wanted to learn how to paint with watercolors, so I’ll probably make it to this class.
Feb. 16-20, 7:30 p.m.
Feb. 21, 2 p.m.
Stephen Sondheim’s musical “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” is one of Broadway’s greatest farces. Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but naive courtesan named Philia for his master Hero in exchange for freedom. The comedy captures infectious energy of classic vaudeville.

Let me tell you, I love musicals. And I love Stephen Sondheim.
Feb. 25
Live Jazz!
Neon Parrot Lounge
181 Pine St. │ 325.701.9996 │ www.neonparrotlounge.com
Nothing like some good old fashioned Live Jazz. I’ll take it.
In addition to these events that are in my calendar, the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council has a much more extensive community event list on their website.
There’s one more thing I want to do in February that isn’t necessarily a February event, and that is to visit the Menagerie exhibit at the Grace Museum. There’s not much in the world I like better than a good puppy pic. I’m quite fond of taking them myself and I’m surprised I haven’t taken the opportunity to view this exhibit yet. It’s on the calendar. #furbabies
