Playing Pranks & Telling Jokes

April 4, 2016 Leave a Comment

I am not afraid to admit that I’m a huge fan of television.  Despite my schedule I’m always finding ways to make time for TV.  One of my favorite shows is still The Office.  Jim and Pam are the definition of relationship goals (so are Andy and April from Parks and Rec but we can save that discussion for another day).

Jim and his crush/girlfriend/wife Pam like to punctuate the tedium of office life by playing pranks on their spastic co-worker Dwight.  This is my favorite:

I can’t pretend to have that level of commitment when it comes to pranking but I admire it none-the-less.

This year, to celebrate the first of April, I tried my hand at office pranks.  Though none were quite as extravagant as Jim and Pam’s, I am pretty proud of the results.  If I do say so myself.

Brown Es

I brought a brownie pan full of brown paper Es and placed it in the kitchen.  Because I LOVE a good pun.  This one went over pretty well but ended up needing a little bit of explaining.

Next to the brownie pan I placed an empty Jack & Jill donut box and filled it with veggie snacks.  If I were actually bringing donuts I would’ve made the trip to AM because #supportyourlocalbusiness.  (And because I can’t resist their chocolate covered selection.)  But for this purpose, as much as I drool at the sight of the classic pink box, I wanted a box that spelled it out with the word DONUTS printed on top for maximum effect.

Healthy Donuts

Boom.

My desk is located close enough to the galley that I could hear giggling and gasps all morning.  What I loved about this pranking adventure is that it was harmless, healthy and good humored.  For the most part, at least.  I will probably have to bring real donuts soon to make up for the disappointing veggie tray.

This hilarious response…

It’s fun to build community around a joke that everyone gets to be a part of.  What April Fools jokes did you play this year?  I could use some tips for next year!   Share your jokes with Scene and me via social media.
