Backyard Celebrations

August 7, 2015 Leave a Comment

Backyards can be a staple for summer.  Kids, or no kids, we’ve picked our favorite summer backyard activities for all ages.

Water Blobs.  They are all the rage on Pinterest and we are most definitely fans.  Kids and dogs love them.  But adults can enjoy them too! If you want to sunbathe without over heating in Texas this might be a great option for your backyard.  Just remember to drain after a day or two to avoid a dead patch of grass.  This lady has a reusable leak proof set of instructions so you can fill-up again later!

Soap Boat Races.  Okay so this may be targeted more for children than adults, but still it’s a fun activity that everyone can enjoy. For a more grown up version, try to make the longest track you can and see try to see how far the soap boats will travel!

Twister.  The game that brings people closer. Much closer.  This game is perfect for the outdoors because, let’s be honest, everyone prefers to fall on soft grass instead of a hard indoor floor.  All ages can enjoy this as you try to up your yoga game and win at balance.  An extra-large playing field means you can play more people or spread out and challenge balance instead of maneuvering skills.  For an outdoor version don’t be afraid to get messy and add colored shaving cream to the mix.  It might raise the difficulty level a little bit.

Pup tents.  To us, this says backyard sleepover.  We don’t know about you but the kid in us really wants one.

Colored Power.  The secret is out! Make the powder from color runs to use in your own backyard.  We want to have a summer snowball fight with these.  Get panty hose stockings; you know, the cheap kind that comes in those plastic vending machine containers. Fill with powder and tie off. Continue tying and filling.  One set of knee highs will probably make about 5 “snowballs.”  When you have a good amount of ammo you’re ready to go. You could even have each person or team using a different color and then count who got the most hits.
