May 2017 is nearly here. Pools are opening, seniors are preparing to graduate on to bigger and better things, and we are all investing in sunscreen. Through the hustle and bustle of the spring, we are looking forward to some events of the local variety. These are the events on my calendar this May!
May 4-7, 9am-5pm
Recall the energy, passion, and excitement of the roaring ’20s by flying aboard this first luxury airliner which marked the beginning of commercial flight. $75-Adult walk up; $70-Adult advance; $50-Children 17 and younger.

Now this just sounds cool. If I didn’t get motion sickness I’d be all over it! As it is, I recommend it for those that can handle these kinds of things. Tell me how it goes.
May 5, 6-10pm
Relay for Life. A community event where people can come honor and remember cancer survivors from Abilene. Relay For Life raises money for the American Cancer Society so that we can find a cure to this terrible disease.
Abilene Zoo

I’ve been to this event in the past and it is meaningful, fun and just plain lovely. I recommend it for all the locals.

Paramount Film Series: Pillow Talk
A womanizing songwriter spends hours on the phone wooing his many women. Problem is, he shares a party line with a prim interior decorator who’s miffed because she can’t get any calls. Starring: Doris Day, Rock Hudson, Tony Randall; color, 103 minutes, not rated, 1958.
Again, this movie was one of my favorites growing up. The Paramount can really do no wrong.
How many of you make it out to these local events? Keep Abilene fun. Get out, get involved, but most importantly: Show up and have fun!
