On My #EventsToBeScene List: November 2016

November, the glorious month of bad eating habits, bad shopping habits and over-eager Christmas preparations.  It’s here and it’s ready for you.  Left over Halloween candy? Check.  Christmas Carousel? Check.  Eighty-degree weather? Double-check.

These #EventsToBeScene are on my calendar for the upcoming month.

Nov. 3-6 at 7:30 p.m.

36th annual Junior League Christmas Carousel at the Abilene Civic Center includes a weekend of shopping and entertainment for children and adults alike. About 100 merchants from Texas and beyond will sell everything from gifts, food and clothing. Special family night entertainment for the children.

It’s always fun to support this great cause AND all our local vendors.

Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Celebrity Attractions presents “Elf the Musical,” a hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. He later embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and to help New Yorkers remember the true meaning of Christmas. Abilene Civic Center auditorium.

I wanted to go to this last year and I didn’t get the chance. I’m excited that this show came back to Abilene!

Nov. 15, 6-8 p.m.

Bring in the holidays! Print your own Holiday cards with a PRINT MAKING BEGINNER CLASS 1 with AISD art Educator Elizabeth Joy; Price: $25 per participant, BYOB, Supplies included.

National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature

102 Cedar St. | 325.673.4586 | www.nccil.org

Oh but for responsibilities.  I would be all over this business!

Nov. 18, 8 p.m.

Nov. 19, 2:30 & 8 p.m.

Nov. 20, 2:30 p.m.

Abilene Ballet performs the Christmas classic “The Nutcracker” at the Historic Paramount Theatre.

Nov. 29

5-8 p.m.

28th Annual City Sidewalks and the KXVA Fox Christmas Lights Parade will celebrate “A Storybook Christmas” downtown. Free. Sponsored by the Abilene Downtown Association. Rediscover the charm of Christmas in downtown as merchants, museums and galleries open their doors for an evening of holiday cheer! Activities Include the 6:30 p.m. KXVA Fox Abilene Christmas Lights parade, community tree, performances by Abilene Independent School District students and free goodies.

I will always plan on going to these local events.  They are Christmas traditions.

Did we miss something?  We will retweet your event if you share it with the #EventsToBeScene hashtag
