Fall is in the air. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are making their way back to Starbucks, football season is upon us, and we are ready to take on the last four months of 2016.

If you need some “me time” and relaxation, the Abilene Public Library has you covered. The Coloring Club is for adults who want to experience the soothing benefits of coloring. All materials provided. Free.
Adult coloring, all materials provided, and a quiet location? This sounds like a special kind of paradise to me.
Sept. 8-17
West Texas Fair & Rodeo at the Taylor County Expo Center. Admission fees.
My first date with my husband was at the fair. We love to go back every year. You can also catch me in the parade with the HSU Spurs and Cowboy Band!

Beer, Brats, Beethoven – An outdoor German-style Oktoberfest in the afternoon with food and drink vendors, proceeds benefiting the Abilene Philharmonic. In the evening, festival goers may listen to the concert happening inside the Civic Center from the N. 6th Street lawn. For details visit www.abilenephilharmonic.org.

22nd Annual Big Country Balloon Fest at Red Bud Park sponsored by Optimist Unlimited.

1-11 p.m.
The KLGD 2nd annual Shrimp and Wine Festival along Cypress Street in downtown Abilene. Twenty to 30 vineyards from all over Texas converge with live music and food vendors.
Sept. 24
2-6 p.m.
Abilene Beer Summit at Frontier Texas! benefiting New Horizons Ranch & Center, a nonprofit helping children through foster care, adoption, residential treatment and counseling. Enjoy an afternoon of 125 unique craft beers from 45 breweries throughout the U.S. plus live music and food. Tickets are $30.
If you are bored on the weekend of September 24, shame on you.

Hardin-Simmons University Theatre presents the musical comedy “The Addams Family.” Charles Addams’ weird and wonderful family, who have an affinity for all things macabre, come to devilishly delightful life.
